Household Black Mold Poisoning – Highest Risk For Poisoning Molds Is In the Winter

The winter time is known for sickness and germs. People spend less time outside and do not have fresh air circulating throughout their house(windows & doors open etc.).  Not only does sickness from colds and flu increase but so does sickness caused by molds (especially black mold).

Many people confuse symptoms of mold poisoning for the common cold or flu, if your sickness will not go away and lingers around you should check around your house for mold.  There is a possibility you may have mold poisoning.

Please understand you do not have to have every symptom of mold positioning, it will affect people in different ways.

First do some brainstorming thinking if you had any moisture problems in your house in the last few months. Maybe a leaky window, plumbing pipe issues or maybe a crack in your basement foundation wall.

Next look around for mold. Below are some of the most common places to find mold:

- Basements with moisture issues or that have been flooded.
- Under showers, tubs and sinks
- Behind refrigerators
- In the wall or around windows that have been leaking
- Under carpeting that has been exposed to large amounts of moisture
- Behind wall molding that has come into contact with moisture.

Check all of these places for mold in addition to any places where you can remember having a moisture issue.

If you find any mold I would recommend removing it immediately via a DIY method or by calling a professional.  You should also contact your doctor to let him or her know that you visited for cold like symptoms but you did find mold in your house. Your medical professional will then recommend the best steps you should take based on your symptoms and the presence of mold.
